History
As far back as 1974 Thys Cronje joined his father, Danie, in the family business in Stilbaai. Through the years the company prospered as a result of their efficiency, integrity and honesty, as well as their skilled workmanship, client-focused attitude and hard work. By 2010 young Carl Cronje joined the family business and the name changed to MJ Cronje Boukontrakteurs.
Thus our business is already in the hands of the third generation, born and bred in Stilbaai and knowing the community and area inside out. To understand how our business could survive and grow over so many years and is still going strong, one only has to look at the evidence. All over Jongensfontein and Stilbaai beautiful houses stand like proud monuments of the handiwork of MJ Cronje Boukontrakteurs and its teams.
Stilbaai and Jongensfontein
Stilbaai is a fast developing coastal town on the banks of the Goukou River where it meets the Indian Ocean. It is situated in the Hessequa Local Municipal area which forms part of the larger Garden Route District Municipality in the Western Cape Province of South Africa. Stilbaai is also a popular holiday destination, offering lots of opportunities for water sports and nature lovers. The area has a rich history dating back even as far as the Middle Stone Age and various interesting heritage sites can be visited.
Stilbaai and Jongensfontein (some 9 km away) are also popular places where people love to build their holiday homes and where they eventually want to retire. You might be interested in buying a plot and build your own dream house or “huisie by die see”. As the needs of clients, as well as trends and developments in the building and construction industry change, we stay informed. The satisfaction of our clients is our first priority.

We are registered with the National Home Builders Registration Council, the national body which regulates the home building industry. Their regulations protect the home owner as well as the builder. Every member of our building teams adheres to these building regulations. We don’t take short cuts, nor do we make use of second grade materials.

We have 26 permanent employees including labourers, painters, carpenters, and bricklayers. We are proud to say that we do not make use of sub-building contractors and have an excellent permanent team. We never take on more than 2 projects at a time to ensure quality and not quantity. We thrive on keeping our word to finish projects as planned while staying committed to each project until it is completely done.
